Promote healthy sleep habits

Good attendance is critical for learning. All students should strive for a 95% or better attendance record (one day absence per month on average)..

Sleep
Better sleep leads to improvements in health, well-being, and academic achievement. Regular schedules and bedtime routines create good sleep habits that set kids up for a good night’s rest.
Share our Snooze To-Do checklist with students so they can establish a healthy bedtime routine. This checklist includes a version for elementary students and a version for middle and high school students!
Immunization Information
Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Schools will enforce the Minnesota Immunization Law-Section 123.70 as amended by the 1998 legislature with respect to student immunization. Students enrolling in our school district will be required to provide the school district with an up-to-date immunization record at the time of registration. This record must contain minimum Minnesota school immunization requirements according to age/grade. Failure to do so may result in not allowing the student to attend until compliance is met. Exceptions: Students who are homeless or enrolling from another state will be given a 30-day grace period to present their immunizations.
School Health Services
Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Health Services staff seek to create and sustain a school environment that promotes and supports student health, well-being, and academic achievement. Our goal is to assist students to be self-sufficient in managing their health care within age appropriate expectations thereby preparing all students for life. Research shows that healthy students are better learners!
